    Description

Very interesting small miniature like piece of George Washington. Dated 1859. Designed by H Billings, Engraved by the American Bank Note Co. Also around the rim edge it reads Entered according to act of congress in the year 1859 by H Barnes in the clerks office of the district court of the district of Massachusetts. The backside of the wooden piece has information about George and his beloved Mt Vernon. Supposedly this wooden little frame came directly from a tree that was living there when George lived on the property. Great rare interesting piece. Wonder how many of these have survived. The frame measures 3 1/4" wide and tall. The glue that held the engraving, the round brass plate and wooden piece has dried out and are separate. I did not want to glue it back together since it's so fragile.  comes with a small white jewelry like box that has information written on the lid. Will ship by small flat rate priority box.
