Part of a small historical archive of photographs and ephemera from the NEW YORK ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY and PARK, BRONX, NEW YORK
21 photographs, 12 which appear to be sepia albumen photos, wonderful images of some of the animals, all are numbered, some of them have the park stamp on the back, some are embossed in the corner NEW YORK ZOOLOCAL SOCIETY COPYRIGHT, 1908. The largest being 6x8, others approx 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 and 3 are smaller
7 black and white, also 4 1/2 x 6 1/2, these are also numbered and some bear the Zoological Park stamp
Lastly there are 2 handcolored images of a leopard ( we believe this image appears in one of the bulletins that we are listing)
We assume the photographer was ELWIN ROSWELL SANBORN who was the official photographer for the society for many years
Some photos have the price of 20 cents on them and must have been sold as souvenirs,wonderful images of elephants, cubs, zebras, polar bear, bear getting fed, bison?, deer, lion, leopard?
The 2 smallest photos of 3 baby bears and the mallard duck rest have pencil notes on them, dated 1910"TAKEN BY MR ARTHUR, (JOURNALS)"

On the whole the USPS is VERY reliable, we lose very few items in the mail.We require delivery confirmation on all items. Postcards and small ephemera are mailed out in rigid cardboard mailers, 1st class packages, with delivery confirmation. Global priority,express or registered mail are options for overseas buyers at additional cost. Customs slips are used on overseas mail. We will try and get your purchase out in a timely manner, we usually mail out 2 or 3 times a week. Mail can be delayed due to to legal holidays and post office closings(small town), inclement weather etc. THANKS AGAIN!
