HUGE ORIGINAL 1926 BULLFIGHT POSTER, JUAN BELMONTE, IGNACIO MEJIAS RAFAEL ORTEGA

Description

Original huge bullfight poster produced in 1926 with artwork by Spanish artist C. Ruano Llopis (1879-1950) printed by J. Ortega of Valencia.  The bullfight which was held at the Plaza de toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballerie de Sevilla in Seville, Spain is the site of one of the most well-known bullfighting festivals in the world.  At this important corrida held on August 15 were well known matadors Juan Belmonte, Rafael Gomez Ortega and Ignacio Sanchez Mejias.
The poster is comprised of two sections put together. Approximate total poster dimensions are 102"h x 47"w.
There are no stains or areas of discoloration.  The colors in the poster have been well preserved and are fresh in appearance due to having been folded up for many years.  While the colors of the poster are excellent and there is no fading, the poster was kept folded so there are fold creases.  Condition issues include slight edge roughness on the left side edge of the border, a few slight short 1/4" edge tears on the border, a couple of small 1/4" size holes on the upper border, a 2" edge tear from the edge to one of the small holes on the border, a very short 1/4" tear on a fold crease line juncture and several short crease lines on the border.  There are fold creases.
This poster is of the period and is not a later copy, is not a re-issue and is not a reproduction.  This poster has never been offered for sale before this time having been part of a collection put together quite a long time ago.
This poster is in the condition as it was found unmounted and unbacked having been stored away for many years.  I have not repaired, restored or tampered with the poster in any way.
On some computer monitors the images seen in the listing may appear to show the colors of the poster to be muted or there may be a shine seen which is a reflection from either the camera flash or light but in actuality the colors of the poster are of even tonality.
